Activities at Cacapon create outdoor interest and this weekend includes vernal pools! Cacapon’s naturalist and activity planners invite you to participate in these things-to-do March 8 – 9, 2023.

1:30PMNo Leaves, No Problem: All You Need is a TwigLearn how to identify a tree in the winter time by its twig. Followed by a short walk.

10:00AMNature & History HikeMeet volunteer and Potomac Valley Master Naturalist for take a hike to learn all about Cacapon. Meet at the Nature Center. What a great morning to be on a hike. Join us.

MONDAY, March 13, 202310:00AMTai ChiThis class will help increase balance, flexibility, and focus on connection to mind, body, & spirit. Meet at Cacapon Lodge.

10:30AMExploring Your Senses: Smell & TouchThis program is for the younger kids K-2, but can still be fun for any age. Meet at the Nature Center.

When you visit Cacapon visit the Tom Ambrose Nature Center! The nature center is a great stop for all ages, showcasing exhibits on the park history and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Camp Morgan 1934-41. Other West Virginia natural exhibits include an extensive taxidermycollection of wildlife- fish, birds, fox, bobcat, mountain lion, deer, elk, and eastern grey wolf!

Also, hands-on sand displays for wildlife tracks and a new geology interactive map to design your own mountains, rivers and lakes. Take a park naturalist guided hike or join the daily activities! All programs start at the nature center unless noted.
