According to the latest report, tuition for studies at Mercer County Technical Education Center surged by 201.2% during the 2022-23 school year, according to the latest disclosure from the National Center for Education Statistics.

Students paid $5,162 to attend the two-year public institution this year, which is $238 less than the $5,400 tuition charged in the 2021-22 academic year.

Approximately 94% of the school’s undergraduate students are residents of West Virginia, while about 4% come from other states.

Data indicates that 88% of full-time undergraduates who enrolled at Mercer County Technical Education Center in 2022-23 received some form of student financial aid. A total of 28 students were awarded grants or scholarships amounting to $147,060.

Across the entire undergraduate population, 88 students benefited from grants or scholarships totaling $372,253.

Undergraduate education costs have seen a significant increase over the past few decades. Data shows a 169% rise in the average total cost, including tuition, fees, room, and board, between 1980 and 2020.
