Don V. Hylton is the author of Blue Mountain Explosion, a fictional novel where a mystery collides with the underground world of coal mining in Appalachia.
Don is a 1981 magna cum laude graduate of Bluefield State College (now University). He acquired a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering Technology.
Don’s first day working in an underground coal mine was in the summer of 1977. His last day was in May of 2014. He held many positions during his mining career working for coal companies in Tennessee, West Virginia, and Virginia, where he retired from CONSOL Energy.
Don and his wife Vicki reside near Bluefield, Virginia. They have one child, and one grandchild. Don and Vicki’s other five kids have paws, fur, and meow often.
