Bluefield State University Volleyball defeated Concord University for the first time since 2010 on Wednesday 3-2.
The Mountain Lions took set one 25-21, but the Big Blue bounced back to take set two 25-20. Down by one, the Big Blue scored five consecutive to take the 23-19 lead. Back-to-back kills from Allyson Martin secured set one for the Big Blue 25-20.
Concord took set three 25-21 before BSU claimed set four 25-16 to force the deciding set.
In set four, the Big Blue went on a 4-0 run to take the 10-6 advantage. Concord pulled within three late in the set, but the Big Blue scored the final six points of the set. This included two concord miscues, a kill from Caely Pickered and Kateryna Dashevska and two from Martin.
The Big Blue had the 8-5 advantage midway through set five. The Moutain Lions pulled within one (12-11) before the Big Blue would score three of the next five points. The final two points of the set came from a kill and ace from Dashevska to take the 15-13 victory over Concord.
