Covert has over 30 years of experience in public health and chronic disease prevention. Her presentation will cover topics including:
- Identifying common triggers for behaviors associated with dementia
- Explaining the process for assessing and identifying challenging behaviors
- Strategies to address common dementia-related behaviors
- Understanding resources available through the Alzheimer's Association
Originally from McDowell County, the speaker has also served as National Co-Director of the CDC’s Healthy Working Program, Executive Director of the Wellness Council of WV, and she was the founder and first president of the National Association of Wellness Councils. She has been involved in statewide, regional, and national health issues throughout her career.
Sharon Covert is a featured speaker in Bluefield State University nursing faculty member Kelli Sarver’s Health Promotion course.
