WBB Extends to 4-0

Bluefield State University women's basketball extends to 4-0 after a win over Southern Wesleyan 71-39.

Aerihna Afoa led all scorers with 24 points and four rebounds followed by Katrina Davis with 13 points and seven rebounds. Gabrielle Thomas and Dani Janutolo controlled the rebounding with nine apiece.

After the Warriors got on the board first, a layup from Thomas tied it up and the Big Blue maintained the lead the rest of the way. The Big Blue scored the final five points of the first quarter to build the 16-5 lead over the Warriors.

The Warriors opened the second quarter with nine consecutive points to pull within two. The Big Blue quickly pulled away with two threes by Alexus Tucker and Azariah Binford and a fastbreak layup by Janutolo to take the ten-point lead into the half.

The Big Blue outscored the Warriors 26-10 in the third quarter to go into the fourth with the 26 point advantage. The Big Blue maintained a 30+ point lead over the Warriors for majority of the fourth. They had their largest lead of the night of 41 after a steal by Binford, who found Janutolo in the paint for two. The Warriors scored the next nine points, but could not overcome the previously set deficit.
