Bluefield State University men's basketball fall to Benedict 102-90 on Saturday at home.
Landry Palata led the Big Blue with 20 points and seven rebounds followed by Malik Tidwell with 18, Malik Lacewell with 13 and Jordan Hinds with 11.
After Benedict scored the first seven points unanswered, a three from Lacewell pulled the Big Blue within two at the 15-minute mark. The Tigers continued to build a double-digit lead throughout the remainder of the half. The Big Blue would get as close as four, off of a three from Tidwell at 5:41, but could not stop the Tiger offense from going into the half with the 11-point advantage.
The Tigers would build their lead to as large as 17 in the second half. The Big Blue would pull within six after a put back layup from Lacewell with 6:40 left in regulation, before the Tiger offense would take over to get the 102-90 victory over Bluefield State.
