Dr. Stephen Rowe will address students of Advanced Composition about writing critical reviews. The presentation is open to the public.
A published author, Dr. Rowe has published refereed scholarly work, short fiction and poetry. He has written reviews for Choice, the Modern Language Association, and The Chronicle of Higher Education.
Dr. Rowe is a highly successful grant writer, having won a major grant to fund the construction of a new building at Concord University. Dr. Rowe built this institution’s intensive English program that has enrolled students from various countries and helped to develop ties with institutions in Japan, South Korea, Turkey, Cyprus, Tunisia, and India. He has served as Concord’s academic dean/vice president for academic affairs.
Dr. Stephen Rowe is a retired Professor of English with graduate specialties in Medieval and Renaissance literature. With a liberal arts undergraduate degree, Dr. Rowe completed master's degrees at the University of Arkansas and Louisiana State University. His Ph.D. was earned at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Rowe is a member of the Higher Learning Commission’s accreditation teams in northeastern USA. Dr. Rowe has been awarded a grant to develop an app that assists small businesses’ growth and currently serves on the advisory board of Bluefield State College’s Office of International Initiatives.
