Any qualified person desiring to become an AT LARGE candidate for the Board of Directors for the City of Bluefield, West Virginia will need to file a certificate of candidacy form beginning March 16, 2023. Candidate forms may be obtained from the City Clerk and completed forms will be accepted at City Hall during regular business hours between the following dates and times:
March 16, 2023 – April 4, 2023
8:00 a.m. – Noon
1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
The election is open to any registered voter and resident of the City of Bluefield who is (1) at least eighteen years old, (2) a West Virginia Citizen, (3) not under conviction of felony, treason, or bribery in an election either State or Federal law, until his or her sentence, including the period of incarceration, parole, or probation related thereto is complete, and (4) not be subject to any legal disability, including court declared mental incompetency.
Each candidate shall pay to the City Clerk a filing fee of $120.00. After the expiration of the time of filing, April 4 by 4:30 p.m., the City Clerk shall publish a list of the names of all candidates, once in proper form, in the daily newspaper of the city as they are to appear upon the ballot and shall thereupon cause the ballots to be printed.
